“CTRM dipilih sebagai hab kalibrasi Testia di rantau Asia Pasifik”
CTRM to become first calibration hub for Testia in Asia-Pacific
During the 2023 edition of the MRO APAC tradeshow in Singapore, Testia has signed a Master Service Agreement with Composites Technology Research Malaysia. Through this agreement, CTRM subsidiary CTRM Testing Laboratory Sdn. Bhd. (“CTRM TL”) has been designated the first calibration hub for Testia’s inspection products in the Asia-Pacific region, and the first of such facilities outside Testias’ home base in Toulouse, France.
Other services will include Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) training, the NDT Cadet Academy program for developing NDT-certified personnel through both theoretical and on-the-job training, as well as distribution of Testia products in the Asia-Pacific region.
The signing ceremony took place on 27 September 2023 at the Aviation Week MRO Asia Pacific Singapore 2023. Signing on behalf of Testia was CEO David Rottembourg while Shamsuddin Mohamed Yusof signed as CEO of CTRM. Both parties are expected to finalise terms of the agreement, including technical information, prices and marketing, in the near future.
As part of the agreement, CTRM TL will offer laboratory services on calibration for Testia products and become a comprehensive registration platform for Testia’s NDT Cadet Academy.
“We are grateful to both Testia for their trust and recognition in CTRM as a partner in this new field. This venture will certainly propel CTRM to the next level by providing calibration services and NDT training not only to local but also international customers in the APAC region,” said Shamsuddin.
“This latest partnership bodes well with our overall strategy towards expanding CTRM’s business and footprint in the industry. We are also honoured to further enhance our commitment to excellence in the industry through the development of our homegrown expertise and simultaneously supporting Testia initiatives to develop more skilled manpower to strengthen the aerospace industry’s global human capital demand.”
Benefits for Testia’s customers in the APAC region
Testia‘s customers in the Asia-Pacific region will benefit most from this development through faster calibration turnaround times and lower transportation cost as testing equipment will be serviced by the CTRM team in Melaka, as opposed to Testia’s calibration lab in Europe.
The National Aerospace Industry Corporation Malaysia (NAICO Malaysia), which is tasked with bolstering Malaysia’s aerospace industry, said the agency fully supported and strongly encouraged the partnership between CTRM TL and Testia.
“This partnership strongly resonates with the Malaysia Aerospace Blueprint 2030, positioning Malaysia to lead Southeast Asia’s aerospace industry by 2030. Additionally, this partnership is in harmony with the aspirations of the New Industrial Master Plan 2030, leading to the strengthening of Malaysia’s testing and training capabilities, contributing to the resilience of domestic aerospace supply chain,” NAICO Malaysia CEO Prof. Ts. Shamsul Kamar Abu Samah said.
“NAICO Malaysia views this collaboration as a cornerstone in propelling the Malaysian aerospace industry to global prominence, underlining its commitment to advancing the sector’s capabilities and achieving its ambitious 2030 objectives,” added Shamsul.
Testia has over 30 years of experience in aerostructure inspections and non-destructive testing. Meanwhile, CTRM TL is an Airbus approved captive laboratory with both ISO 17025 accreditation and NADCAP AC7122 qualification.
